Large Superworms (1.5"+)

Superworms are a highly nutritious and palatable feeder insect commonly used for reptiles, amphibians, birds, and small mammals. They are rich in protein and fat, making them an excellent energy source, especially for underweight or growing animals. Their relatively high moisture content also supports hydration. Superworms are particularly appealing to insectivores due to their active movement and softer exoskeleton, which stimulates natural hunting behavior and makes them more readily accepted by picky eaters.

They are easy to care for, requiring only basic bedding and food, and can live for weeks without pupating if housed together—no refrigeration is needed, unlike mealworms. Additionally, they offer a convenient way to add variety to an animal’s diet, which supports overall health and dietary enrichment. However, due to their high fat content and imbalanced calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, they should be fed in moderation and supplemented with calcium. Despite these considerations, superworms are a valuable and effective addition to a balanced feeder rotation.
